The Problem You'll Own
Every home with solar panels, batteries, and EVs is a complex optimization problem. Multiply that by millions. Add real-time grid signals, weather patterns, pricing volatility, and user behavior. Now coordinate it all in sub-seconds. That's your playground.
What You'll Build
Predictive Models at Scale: Time series forecasting for energy consumption, production, and pricing across thousands of households
Real-time Optimization Engines: Algorithms that decide in milliseconds whether to charge the battery, sell to grid, or power the home
Self-Learning Systems: Models that adapt to individual household patterns while improving global coordination
Edge Intelligence: Lightweight ML that runs on home devices, coordinating with cloud intelligence
Market Dynamics: Prediction models for energy markets, grid demand, and flexibility trading
You Are
ML/AI Expert: 5+ years shipping production ML systems, preferably in time series, optimization, or control systems
Energy Domain Knowledge: You understand load profiles, demand response, grid dynamics – or you're obsessed enough to learn fast
Systems Thinker: You see the forest and the trees – understanding both individual optimization and emergent system behavior
Full-Stack ML: From research papers to production pipelines, you own the entire lifecycle
Python Native: NumPy, PyTorch/TensorFlow, scikit-learn are your second language
Infrastructure Savvy: You've deployed models at scale, dealt with drift, versioning, and monitoring
Bonus Points
Experience with reinforcement learning or multi-agent systems
Knowledge of power systems, smart grid protocols, or home automation
Published research or open-source contributions in relevant domains
Experience with edge computing or embedded systems
